I shot this particular series in Pleasantville NY. I live a few miles away and drive past these electric poles daily, and have been for almost 15 years, which is how longI have lived in NY for. Over time I became fascinated by the sheer number of wires and I began to see them more as graphic art than just the ugly poles that interrupted the stunning landscape and skyline. Always intrigued by the thought of where they all went and how connected weare through these wires.Fourteen years later I decided to shoot 'Wired'. Funnily, the actual shots were takenon the same day.I picked a dull day so the skies were white and the poles silhouetted nicely. In post production, the symmetry and graphic nature of the images reminded me ofPiet Mondrian's 'Composition with yellow blue and red'. I have always been a hugefan of his minimalist work and felt these colors also conveyed a strong sense of communication. Now when I drive past the poles and wires, they no longer look the same to me.
